It is always the wealthy who claim "money is not an important asset" and that one must be spiritual. How can one focus on faith, when there is no food, shelter, medical care?" Evidently those expressing these aphorisms have never suffered poverty. I was obliged to take early retirement ( on an unsustainable, static pension), when sustaining an eye injury during voluntary policing. I am indebted to my sister for assisting me financially every month. I lack financial resources that I cannot contribute to a Jewish charity. I have reduced food to a minimum and I am socially isolated. Thank goodness for my cat. Despite my doctorate in education, I have been unable to acquire employment after I underwent surgical procedure 3 times. I applied for more than 100 jobs to no avail. The only reprieve that I obtained was tutoring Muslim pupils. These families included me as one of their own. I did not indicate that I am Jewish. I am grateful and indebted to your Jewish site to "be Jewish".
