It all started when I woke up one morning with a question eating at the corner of my brain: What is a soul?
In the words of a great American philosopher and baseball coach, "If you don't know what you're looking for, you ain't gonna find it." What the heck is a soul? Is it big or small? How do you measure it? What color is it? Where does it like to hang out? Does it laugh when you tickle it? How will I know it's what I'm looking for when I find it?
I logged on to enlightenedcucarachas.com and asked just these questions. Here's an excerpt from my log...
Never mind about of what your soul consists, it is much more important about how it communicates. I believe that it is through one's conscience that one's soul communicates.
As a child I became very upset after watching the Walt Disney cartoon movie about the adventures of Pinocchio. This story is about a wooden puppet, which is granted life and freedom to do what he likes, but he is also provided with a small cricket as a close friend and conscience, which advises him about what is right or wrong. Pinocchio does not often take this advise!
This idea upset me for many years, because I worried about my conscience and what it was thinking about me, Only after becoming adult did I overcome this phobia, and realise that it was my soul's conversion that was affecting me through this medium.
I would like to see other reader's and Rabbi's views about this concept of the conscience and its connection with our souls.
